It Won't Stay Dead

A couple of nights ago I got a chance to watch Bender's Big Score, the Futurama movie that just came out on DVD. I am not going to reveal the plot, of course, but I'll say I enjoyed the movie a lot. Everybody you know and love from the show is back (except for the aliens from Omicron Persei 8), in this eighty-minute-long movie that will make you laugh like the old episodes did!

I have to warn you, though, so you are not disappointed when you get to watch it. Bender's Big Score is just like any other Futurama episode, but longer. I remember Halagan said he didn't like The Simpsons Movie because it didn't offer anything new. Well, I'll make this very clear: BBS does not offer anything new; all its goodness feels like a long TV episode. The animation, the artwork, the jokes, the story: it's like the show, but longer and more eagerly anticipated. The plot is more convoluted than any other episode from our beloved previous seasons, but that's it. However, keep in mind this movie (like the forthcoming three) has been designed to work both as a movie and as separate episodes that will become the show's fifth season, so I guess it makes sense that it feels exactly like the show. So don't expect anything else.

As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It's funny, fast paced, and it brings back Fry, Leela, Bender, and the gang. Some of the supporting characters (Zoidberg, Brannigan, Amy, the Professor) don't have a lot of screen time, since the spotlight is on Fry, Leela, Bender, Hermes, and a few new characters that shall remain undisclosed, and maybe I would have liked to see them more on screen. Still, the movie was lots of fun, and that is what I was expecting. And let’s not forget about the extras: you can’t miss the full-length episode of Everybody Loves Hypnotoad. I bet you've never seen anything like it!

Y comienza a sonar "Desert Chase" de Raiders of The Lost Ark!!!!
