It’s time to talk about what is maybe the best show right now on TV: the new Battlestar Galactica. I never saw the first one (you know, the one with Dirk Benedict in it), and neither I was anxious on watching this sort of a sequel. But everybody was saying such nice words for it, giving it such praisy compliments, that I decided to give it a try.
I saw the miniseries (an extra-extra-large two-parts chapter that serves the show as a prelude) maybe three months ago. And it was pretty impressive, I must say. You can see that, as well as throughout the whole show, the producers had the money, and they didn’t hesitate on spending it. It’s not a high budget A-movie, that’s for sure, but it’s not far behind it, either.
And then it came the first season. It’s not even a whole season, but a half of it, thirteen episodes that move the story forward and force the characters to make critical decisions once and once again. Very much like the second season (this time a whole one), in which the main characters continue to love, hate and trying to understand themselves.
On the contrary to what it may seem from that last line, this show is not another Grey’s Anatomy, thank god. What I’m trying to say is: Battlestar Galactica’s characters are not just a bunch of grownups acting as if they were still in high school. They have problems, very pressing and demanding problems, and they do what they can to solve them. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, ‘cause they’re not perfect, just as real people aren’t.
And, only for the record, if they were to find a mysterious hatch in the middle of nowhere, they would immediately open it no matter what. They sure wouldn’t spend half a season acting like such a weird thing to find on a desert isl... errr, nowhere, never existed.
This new Battlestar Galactica is good, granted, but I never expected it to be SO good as it has proved to be on season two’s last three episodes, that I saw just yesterday. Unexpectedly (or at least unexpectedly to me), the show has changed. Everything is not what it was anymore, and I LOVE it. Only Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off show, Angel, had so far satisfied my hunger of permanent changes on TV shows. I want characters to die, to born and to change sides. I want cities to burn, to be built, backgrounds to disappear and new ones to be found. I want people to fall in love, and people to fall apart. And, more or less, now I’m sure BSG will provide me with that in the near future. Now they’re on the middle of its third season in the states, so I will probably continue watching it to catch up with it. BSG, Veronica Mars, House and Lost. Now those are three shows on its third season that I’m watching. Lucky me.
On regarding the plot, to finish, the Cylons are back. And that’s all the spoilness you’re going to find on this post. If you want to know what happens, then buy or rent the DVDs, and watch the show. I guarantee you’re not going to regret it.

He dicho.
Bueno, algún día espero ponerme a ver Scrubs.
