Good news, everyone!As this article quotes, Buffy’s back. You all probably know by now that Joss Whedon is preparing the return of our favourite upturned-wriggling-nose heroine, right after what happened in her TV show spectacular finale. Alas, we won’t be able to watch Mrs. Gellar in action, cause all of her "I’m-too-great-for-television-but-not-so-for-bad-horror-flicks" attitude. That, and also definitely because this time the adventures of the Slayer aren’t coming to your TV screen, but to the comic stores near you.
So, as he says on the linked interview, Whedon is planning on doing a comic series of between 24 and 30 issues, treating each one of them as episodes of a whole, just as if he was doing a new season of the show. In fact, this project is said to be its never-made 8th season, which has been fanficed countless times before. I despise all the Buffy comics I’ve set my paws upon (not counting Fray, not counting Fray!), but in this case I can’t wait to read them. I mean, we're talking about Joss Whedon’s own plot, and, for some of the issues, own writing here. Not that I’m a canon-is-the-most-important-thing kind of guy, but some of you have read Fray, or Whedon’s own X-Men series. We know what he’s capable of, regarding good prose.
On concerning the pretty pictures, I’ll let the experts here to judge if they’re good, excellent or, simply, crap. The one you see here is an extreme close-up on Mr. Knable... I mean, on Buffy, in all her cute-nosing glory. The artist got her all right, it seems to me. Sufficiently all right, at least. But I’m no expert on the matter, so, let the poll begin!

You beat me to it, Halagan! As it happens, I had a post ready for this exact piece of news, but I had been waiting to post it, and now it's too late! Anyway, I'll adapt my post into a comment:
I have two problems with this, in theory, great announcement. The first one is that (and forgive me, Halagan) I think the show went downhill after the fourth season. Maybe that was because of its spin-off, Angel, a series that I found way better than BTVS. Maybe Whedon was so excited about Angel than he kind of neglected the Buffster for a while. But now that there's no Angel show anymore, maybe Buffy will be great again.
My second problem is bigger, though. Yeah, we're going to have another season of cute SMG slaying demons, but it's going to be in comic-book format. You know I love comic books, but bad artwork can be deadly for a story. The featured picture doesn't look bad (it could be better, but it could also be way worse), so I guess I'll have to wait until I see the first issue before I can judge.

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con Nacho. Creo que más le valdría a Whedon dejarse de Buffys y hacer algo con Firefly. De hecho, he leído esta mañana que el año que viene va a publicar una miniserie de 3 números situada entre la serie y la película. Solo espero que ésta sea mejor que la serie que publicó el año pasado, también en plan tie-in, que la verdad es que me pareció bastante mediocre.
Yes, Nicole Kidman can be included I think....though I believe she is naturally a red head (no strawberry about it). But I guess you can decide if the list has to be strictly 'natural' blondes. I mean really...who is naturally blonde anymore??
So no Kate Bosworth huh? I think the fact that she has one blue eye and one brown eye is so intriguing and undeniably sexy.

Regarding Bosworth's strange eyes, that might explain why she liked the scripts for both Blue Crush and Superman Returns when she read them. Poor thing...
It seems actresses with two different eye colors choose horrendous movies to star in. Another example? Elizabeth Berkley in the horrid Showgirls. I think David Bowie's had more luck, but then again, he's not a girl, and not an actor either. Or is he? Well, sort of...
La verdad es que los dos numeros de la miniseria de Fire fly no cuenta nada interesante solo como se cargan a los manos azules de una manera bastante cutre, pero al menos esta bien dibujado. Espero que estos nuevos sean de un contenido mas interesante.
Tengo que entrar a saco aquí para hacer dos cosas:
- La primera, criticar a Firefly, la serie. O mas bien, mostrar mi incredulidad. No entiendo cómo leches esa serie puede tener las críticas tan exageradamente favorables que tiene. Quiero decir, no es que no me guste (que SÍ me gusta), es que no le encuentro la lógica a toda esa gente que la pone por encima de todas las nubes, Buffys, Angels y demás. Con tiempo, y episodios, no dudo que pudiera haber sido la mejor serie de la historia de la telavisión. Pero no tuvo ni lo uno ni lo otro, y ya está. Es un conato de gran serie. Es como si yo dijera que el David de Miguel Ángel es una de las mejores obras de arte de la Historia de la Humanidad, viéndole solo los pies. Pues no se puede opinar. Serenity, la película, ya sería otro cantar.
- La segunda, defender a Buffy ante esas acusaciones sobre "que las últimas temporadas fueron lamentables". Supongo que eso ya es cosa de opiniones personales. A mí no solo me gustan las dos últimas temporadas (la quinta ocupa el lugar mas bajo en mis preferencias), sino que me parece que están al mismo nivel que algunas de las primeras magníficas teporadas (excepto de la indiscutible segunda, claro). Son distintas, sí, pero son buenas. Y eso que yo, personalmente, no soporto al Spike sex simbol. ¡¡¡Puuagghhh!!!
Estoy de acuerdo en que Firefly, con el poco tiempo que tuvo para desarrollarse, no es tan fantástica como todo el mundo la pone. Y, sin duda, no es superior a Angel (ninguna de las temporadas, ni siquiera la quinta) ni a Buffy (en general). Pero viendo cuánto prometía Firefly, y como, en mi opinión, Buffy fue a menos (lo cual no quiere decir que no me gustara; sólo que pienso que fuer perdiendo después de la cuarta), si tuviera que elegir entre una nueva temporada de Buffy y una de Firefly, elegiría Firefly.
Y con respecto a Miguel Ángel, me quedo con La Pietá.
Tienes toda la razón en eso último, finn5fel. Y no me importaría alguna continuación de Firefly/Serenity, en lugar de tanto tie-in.
Pese a todo, Buffy ocupa un lugar especial en mi corazón... :|
Sobre la obra y milagros de Miguel Ángel, recuerdo cuando estudiaba en el instituto y tal. El David me parecía una cosa desproporcionada, y desde luego ni de lejos tan maravilloso como la mencionada Pietá o, más aún, el increíble Moisés.
Tiempo después, la primera vez que estuve en Italia, pude ver en vivo las tres esculturas. Por no hablar de la enorme cantidad de OBRAS DE ARTE, con mayúsculas, que plagan Florencia o Roma. Cualquiera que sepa apreciar la belleza, no debería irse de este mundo sin echarle un vistazo a ambas ciudades. Pero divago...
Impresionantes las tres esculturas como son, recuerdo que la Pietá y el Moisés me dejaron un buen sabor de boca, pero no excepcional. En cambio, el colosal David, tan perfectamente tallado, tan gigantesco, tan bello... Vamos, que si la estatua llega a ser una representación de una mujer me hubiera corrido allí del gusto. Literalmente. En dos palabras: Impresionante. Mucho.
El Moisés es sin duda fantástico. Y es verdad que nunca he visto ninguna de las mantadas obras en vivo y en directo, así que tal vez tenga que esperar para juzgar. Pero, para Davides, y basándome en fotos, el de Bernini. Magnífico.
Pues sí, ya lo creo que lo es.
Tío, tienes que visitar Italia. Ya no solo porque en Florencia puedas ver los Uffizi, la capilla de los Medici, la Galeria de la Academia o el increíble duomo, cúpula brunelleschiana incluida. O porque disfrutes así de la que sea probablemente la ciudad con mayor cantidad de obras de arte por metro cuadrado.
O por Roma, con restos romanos a patadas, panteones de Agripa, seiscientas y pico iglesias que esconden piezas tan famosas como "El Éxtasis de Santa Teresa" o "El Moisés", Villa Borghese con sus innumerables esculturas (David de Bernini incluido), la monumental San Pedro del Vaticano y los Museos Vaticanos, con frescos de Rafael y la nunca suficientemente consagrada como obra cumbre de la pintura mundial: la Capilla Sixtina y el Juicio Final.
Ni siquiera por Venecia, ciudad maravillosa donde las haya; por Siena, con su bellísima Piazza del Campo donde se celebran las carreras de caballos del Palio; o por Pisa, y ya sabes por qué.
No, tienes que ir porque la comida italiana está buena que lo flipas. Palabra.
Hahaha. Bueno. Si es por la comida, entonces iré. Eso sí: cuando termine de pagar el coche, hahaha.
