I just finished reading the fourth issue (out of six) of The Dark Tower: Treachery, and it left me a bit indifferent. However, it is not only this book, but the whole arc. I think both the writing and the art are as good as they were in The Gunslinger Born and The Long Road Home, but I guess the novelty is wearing off. I am still interested in the story, but it moves forward really, really slowly. I like the artwork, but I think Jae Lee is more than starting to repeat himself. There's barely any backgrounds, and the few background elements we do get to see are all the same: gnarly trees, huge rocks, arches --all in the type of vertical composition the artist seems to favor. And let's not mention that ubiquitous mist that serves as an excuse not to finish figures and scenery. It does add a feel of mystery, of the unsettling supernatural, but it's getting real old real fast. Or maybe I just need a break from the action (what action?) and stop buying the series after issue six comes out. I don't know if there will be another miniseries after this one, but chances are it will happen, especially if the book keeps selling well. However, at $3.99 per issue, I think it's time to start considering getting the next series in trade. I will have to wait longer, yes, but that would accomplish two things: I would get a welcome break both in the action and the price. Come to think of it, it really is a no-brainer. Or maybe I have just forgotten the face of my father.

The Treachery so Far

Bueno, me alegra ver que sigue saliendo material comiquil que devorar una vez haya acabado con los libros. Siguiente parada, The Waste Lands.
De momento sigo atascado en el segundo volúmen de las aventuras de Temeraire. Para mí que hasta que no esté del todo asentado en territorio charro no me lo voy a poder acabar.
¿Quiere eso decir que has terminado The Drawing of the Three? ¿Quiere eso decir que tendremos una crítica pronto? ¿Qué te ha parecido? ¿Mejor que The Gunslinger? ¿Más raro?
Y ya me dirás qué te parece Throne of Jade. Creo que es más flojo que el primero y el tercero, pero aún así me pareció estupendo. ¿Cuánto llevas leído?
Sí, quiere decir que hace tiempo que me lo acabé. No, no quiere decir que haya pensado en poner una crítica (aunque ahora casi me siento obligado). Y me ha parecido infinitamente mejor que TG, la verdad, pero no más raro. Y no porque no lo sea, sino porque ya iba avisado.
Desde ya me declaro fan moderado de la saga. Si el siguiente volúmen está al nivel de éste, pasaré a "ávido".
Sobre ToJ, la verdad es que se me está haciendo un poco pesado, en parte porque en lo que llevo de libro ha pasado básicamente nada. Llegan unos chinos que se quieren llevar a Temeraire y zarpan con él y Laurence hacia el Este. Aparte de eso, Laurence no deja de mirar mal a todo el mundo porque no dejan de comportarse de un modo intolerable para él. Es que no hay página en la que no frunza el ceño por algo, leches.
Creo recordar que The Waste Lands me gustó más que (o al menos tanto como) The Drawing of the Three, aunque es bastante diferente. Ahora que ya tenemos el nuevo ka-tet de Roland, nuevos sucesos acontecen, y Roland ya no está solito sino que tiene alguien con quien discutir y darse tortas... Digo, conversar y debatir. Y no recuerdo TDOTT, pero TWL acaba con un cliffhanger digno de mención, hehehe. Y no digo más. Pero me alegro de que te haya gustado. Como siempre digo, The Gunslinger me parece el más flojo de la serie con diferencia.
Con respecto a Throne of Jade, la acción verdaderamente no comienza hasta que no bajan del barco, así que ármate de paciencia. Eso sí: el cejo de Laurence va a seguir frunciéndose página sí y página también, así que ármate de paciencia ;)

Sobre TDotT, hoy me toca hacer noche en el curro (3 days to go, woohooo!), así que aprovecharé para escribir un LYJM que he venido retrasando por causas ajenas a mi voluntad (mayormente).

Hablando de lo cual, ya lo habrás recibido y leido, espero. El caso es que ha debido ser la noche o algo, porque hoy me he despertado pensando que en el LYJM no había hablado ni de televisión (y más concretamente Lost), ni de cine. Y yo diciendo que no tengo más cosas que contarte y bla-bla-blá. Vergüenza.
Hahaha. Sí lo he leído y disfrutado, y sí es verdad que no has mencionado Lost, serie sobre la que curiosamente tengo un post preparado para antes del miércoles, hehehe.
Y hablando de series, ayer estrenaron Dollhouse, que no pude ver por estar en el cine, pero Fox tiene el episodio disponible en su página web :)
Pues habrá que echarle un vistazo a Dollhouse, aunque la verdad es que de momento no tengo mucha prisa por hacerlo.
Y Lost está molando de un modo impresionante. Pedazo de serie.
Post sobre Lost mañana. Y Dollhouse la vi ayer. A ver si escribo algo y lo pongo el martes.
