I wanted to go see Hot Fuzz when it opened back in April, but multiple other movies prevented me from doing so. Fortunately, a friend of mine rented it (it just came out on DVD), and we watched it a few nights ago. And I enjoyed it immensely.The people behind Hot Fuzz are the same guys who brought you Shaun of the Dead: Edgar Wright co-writing and directing, Simon Pegg co-writing and co-starring, and Nick Frost co-starring in this parody of all buddy-movies. Clear homages to Bad Boys and Point Break (to name just a few) are scattered throughout the movie. In the film, supercop Nicolas Angel is transferred from a London precinct to Sandford, a sleepy little town with no crime, because his efficiency was making everybody else in London look bad. Needless to say, as soon as Sergeant Angel arrives, he begins to see suspicious people everywhere, but is he right or just paranoid?
The movie is clearly divided into two parts. The first one, which is most of the movie, is a laugh-out-loud comedy that I enjoyed very, very much. The second part is an actionfest (with funny parts too) that takes the term "action movie" to whole new levels of ludicrousness. I liked the first part better, but the whole movie works brilliantly, and the laughs keep coming in every single scene. And besides the writing, it's Simon Pegg (Sergeant Angel) and Nick Frost (PC Butterman) we have to thank for those priceless comedic moments. If they were funny in Shaun of the Dead, they knock the ball out of the park in Hot Fuzz. Their chemistry is beyond description, and they deliver their lines with such aplomb that you don't believe they could restrain themselves. Then, when you watch the outtakes, you see they really couldn't most of the time. It is obvious they were having a great time, and that certainly shows in the film.
So there you go: go see this movie if it's playing in theaters (you can see the trailer here, and also play a little game), or get it on DVD as soon as you can: you will have an incredibly good time!

De todos modos, me he quedado sorprendidísimo con el pedazo de 8.2 que saca de nota en IMDb. ¡Y un 90% en Rotten Tomatoes!

De todos modos, la que sí iré a disfrutar en cuanto tenga una tarde disponible es Die Hard 4.0. Que la han estrenado hace unos pocos días tan solo. :(
Es que la peli se sale. De hecho, y como creo que digo en el post, me gustó más que Shaun of the Dead. No sabía que le habían dado tan buenas notas, pero la verdad es que a mí me encantó. Como me gustó Live Free or Die Hard. Harías muy bien viendo ambas, sin duda.
Por mi parte, no tengo intención de pisar el cine hasta el 21, estreno de Resident Evil: Extinction, que tengo el presentimiento no será tan buena como las dos anteriores (me refiero a HF y LFODH, no a RE1 y RE2, claro). Mientras tanto, saciaré mi sed de historias en pantalla con The X-Files, cuya tercera temporada terminé ayer...
Ritmo no demasiado apresurado, pero constante y seguro el que llevas con X-Files, Fel. A mí como una serie me entre por los ojos, si puedo me veo diez capítulos seguidos. Lo que ya he hecho alguna vez... :(
Lo que me recuerda que pronto pondré el tan anunciado post sobre mis diez más mejores series de todos los tiempos, favoritamente hablando. Lo tengo más que preparado, pero es que tengo otros dos posts pendientes.
Bueno, que algo pondré mañana, si no te viene mal. ;)
Excelente! Ya sabes que le tengo ganas al de las series. Y mañana pon lo que quieras, que cuanto más postees tú, menos tengo que pensar yo :)
